How did you get into the music industry?
I first got into music by doing covers and putting them out for people to view. At first, it was just for fun, but then people started noticing and told me to take it seriously. I started taking it more seriously and fell in love with it. I recently moved to Atlanta about a month and a half ago, to further my music career and I have been recording nonstop since I got here. So far, it has been going great.
Where do you get your music inspirations?
I would have to say my top 3 inspirations are Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, and Left Eye. I love to dance and incorporate that into my music.
Tell us about your upcoming project.
I am working on an album, and for some reason, I want to call my project, “The Life of a Cancer.” I am a cancer, and I am not really into the zodiac signs, but I am only into mine. If you read the description of a cancer, it describes me and it is just crazy how accurate it is. I am still in the process of recording so I don’t feel like I have found that one single, just yet. I have a couple in mind but nothing definite.
What is your recording process… Do you write then record, or hear the beat first, then write?
It’s a mixture of both. Sometimes, the producer will approach me with a beat and I will vibe to it and then start writing. Other times, when I am alone at home, I can write a song with no music and put it together with a beat later. In the studio, I usually let the beat inspire me and put the words together after I hear the melody. Right now, I am focusing on recording and finding the right song to push the project behind. Everything else as far as performance, merchandise, and social media networking is there. I am just working and recording to find the right song. I feel once I find the right song, my vision will fall into place. I am going to continue to record until I find that one song.
Is there anything else you aspire to do outside of music?
I want to get into acting. Acting is something that I’ve wanted to do ever since I was a little girl. Another thing I want to do, and I am in the process of doing, is opening a dispensary. A little bit of everything.
Any final words?
To all the females, don’t be afraid to do you. There is always an open lane for the good girls.
